Have a Sunday Spa at Home

Pink paper hearts - That Wise Lady

Since deciding to take more control over my life, pampering has become a priority. As superficial as it might seem, my looks are important to me. I’ve introduced the Sunday Spa at Home into my weekly routine. It’s a godsend!

There are so many home spa products out on the market (although I know some people prefer to make their own), it’s easy to get that spa at home feel whilst you enjoy me-time. I use a very simple kit of spa-like products to enjoy a relaxing spa experience.

The best products for an at-home spa day

Do some research online to find the best at home spa kit ideas for you. The best home spa kit is one that suits your needs, so if your perfect spa day includes a massage from your significant other, then you might want to include massage oils in your kit. If time is limited, you might want to create a pared back version of the spa kit.

Create your own list of things you need for a spa day at home, including the things you would like to eat or drink. There’s nothing wrong with including a glass of champagne, or a box of chocolates if that’s what you enjoy as part of your pampering routine.

The best at home spa tools

In addition to products, I also have some home spa equipment that I like to use. As my equipment is fairly limited and tends to be more expensive to buy, I have a fairly limited selection. There are a few items still on my wishlist though:

  • Heated rollers
  • Waxing kit
  • Foot spa
  • Bath spa pump
  • Facial steamer
  • Laser hair remover

Again, the type of spa at home equipment you choose to use should be specific to your needs.

How to Have the Perfect Spa Day at Home

Start by planning ahead. Put together an at-home spa day schedule that will fit in with your routine. Ensure your family are aware of your plans and respect your privacy. You want the day to feel like a professional spa day at home.

Gather together your at-home spa day essentials from your home spa day checklist. Stock up on all of the drugstore spa day essentials that need replenishing. Decide whether you’ll be doing a digital detox alongside your spa day and if so, give your phone to a trusted family member for emergencies.

How to do a spa at home

A spa day should never start with chores! So forget about starting the laundry or emptying the dishwasher. Delegate the usual household tasks to another family member if needed.

Grab your best at home spa treatments and apply some foot cream and hand cream. Whilst this is working, have a healthy breakfast. I like to have a cup of coffee made with skimmed milk too.

After you’ve eaten, apply hair and face masks, light your candles, and listen to some relaxing music whilst they do their work. There are some great homemade spa treatments for hair on Pinterest if you haven’t got any store-bought products.

Homemade spa bath

After the masks have done their magic, it’s time for a homemade spa bath. I like to use a rose infused bath oil for my bath, but there are plenty of great products on the market. Bath bombs are a very popular spa bath product which can be purchased at a variety of price points. There are also homemade bath bomb recipes on plenty of websites.

If you are blessed with a jet spa bath or attachment, make sure you use it. This will aid in your relaxation. Light your bathroom candles and take a glass of water (or wine) to enjoy whilst you are in the tub. Soak in the tub for at least 30 minutes and then shower afterward to rinse out treatments, wash your day, and exfoliate.

Finishing it all off

Depending on how much time you have and whether you want to do more, after your bath, you can apply luxury body creams and butter. You should also moisturise your face.

I like to dry and style my hair, do my nails, and remove hair too. I also apply some natural makeup to look great for the evening with my husband. You might prefer to take a nice nap and spend the rest of the day in your PJs!

I hope my home spa day ideas provide you with inspiration to enjoy your very own spa at home. Leave your own spa tips in the comments below and have a lovely relaxing day!
